Midland University Honors 19 Students as Who’s Who Award Recipients

Midland University proudly recognizes 19 students as 2023-24 Who’s Who Award recipients. The students were honored during a ceremony on November 27th at the Olson Student Center.

The Who’s Who Award honors senior candidates whose academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in co-curricular activities, and potential for continued success are decidedly above average.

Honorees were:

Carter Anderson – Carter is a Music Education major from Oakland, Nebraska. Carter is involved in theater, vocal music, instrumental music, and collaborative piano. He received the collaborative piano student of the year award twice and an award in costume design from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for his work on Almost, Maine. He was also selected to represent Midland’s music education chapter at the statewide collegiate recital in 2022. Carter is the son of Ted and Jeanette Anderson.

Emma Barnes – Emma is a Biology major with a minor in Chemistry from Papillion, Nebraska. In her time at Midland, Emma has been involved in Cru, Residence Life, MASH, Phi Omega sorority, and the Howard Hanson Honors Program. She is the daughter of Bill and Kelley Barnes.

Zoey Carrico – Zoey is a Nursing major from Papillion, Nebraska. She has been one of the team captains for the Midland powerlifting team, along with serving as co-president for Cru, co-leader of the women’s Bible study through Cru, chaplain for Phi Omega sorority, and a learning lab consultant in the Academic Resource Center. Zoey is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honors Society and is a past president of the Student Nurses Association. Zoey is the daughter of Doug and Heather Carrico.

Emma Christianson – Emma is a Nursing major from Council Bluffs, Iowa. Emma is involved in Psi Omega sorority, Residence Life, Howard Hanson Honors Program, and is a former member of the Warriors Track & Field and Cross Country teams. Emma is the daughter of Colette Bowen and Craig Christianson.

Katelyn Coon – Katelyn is a Digital Marketing and Graphic Design major from Omaha, Nebraska. She is part of the Midland dance program and a member of Phi Omega sorority as well as the Howard Hanson Honors Program. She currently serves as a marketing intern at Oriental Trading Company. Katelyn is the daughter of Peter and Amy Coon.

Christian Dames – Christian is an English Education and Communication Studies major from Scribner, Nebraska. Christian has utilized his writing skills in The Warriors in Words student publication, Bits of Flint, one act plays, and Faces of Midland student features on the Midland University website. Christian is the son of Matt and Mandy Dames.

Abby Ertz – Abby is a Nursing major with a minor in Nutrition from Lincoln, Nebraska. Abby had the opportunity to visit Costa Rica, where she volunteered for a month as a healthcare worker. After graduation, she plans on working on a pediatric ICU floor. Abby is the daughter of Kevin and Angie Ertz.

Lexie Glosser – Lexie is a Digital Marketing major with minors in Graphic Design and Sports Management from Fremont, Nebraska. Lexie has been a member of both tennis and basketball teams at Midland, as well as being involved in FCA, Cardinal Key Honor Society, and SAAC. Lexie is the daughter of Jeff and Rikkel Glosser.

Natalie Hammer – Natalie is a Nursing major from York, Nebraska. Natalie is a member of the Midland dance program along with Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society, the student nurse’s association, and the Wildfire competitive dance team. She has also served as a work study in several capacities and was an Admissions Ambassador. Natalie is the daughter of Chad and Megan Hammer.

Emma Hampton – Emma is a Special Education major from St. Louis, Missouri. Emma has been part of the Midland powerlifting team, serving as co-captain, as well as being an Admissions Ambassador and involved in FCA. Emma is the daughter of Kevin and Dana Hampton.

Konner Kiesel – Konner is a Vocal Music Education major from Wilber, Nebraska. Campus involvements include the Howard Hanson Honors Program, PRISM, NAfME, Alpha Psi Omega, and MidlandUArts event planner. Konner participates in a variety of MidlandUArts ensembles and in 2023, was honored with the MidlandUArts First In, Last Out Award. Konner is the child of Kurt and Sandra Kiesel.

Frankie Klausen – Frankie is an Elementary Education major from Wayne, Nebraska with endorsements in Social Emotional Learning, English as a Second Language, and coaching. She is a member of the basketball team, president of FCA, Senior Admissions Ambassador, and a member of SAAC. Frankie is the daughter of Jeremy and Tara Klausen.

Emily Kleve – Emily is a K-8 Elementary Education major with endorsements in Early Childhood and coaching from Central City, Nebraska. She has been involved in MidlandUArts, Cardinal Key Honor Society, and served as an officer of Midland’s chapter of Nebraska Education Association – Aspiring Educators. Emily is the daughter of Kenton and Chelle Gillan and the late Lori Kleve.

Reilly Peetz – Reilly is an Elementary Education major from North Loup, Nebraska, and has endorsements in High Ability Learning and coaching, along with a certificate in Social Emotional Learning and Behavioral Wellness. She is a member of the Midland dance program, Cardinal Key Honor Society, Anderson Scholar Leader Program, Phi Omega sorority, Student Senate, NSEA-Aspiring Educators, Cru, and is an Admissions Ambassador. Reilly is the daughter of Don and Jodie Peetz.

Madyson Ray – Madyson is a Psychology, Sociology, and Business major from Blair, Nebraska. She has been an Admissions Ambassador as well as being involved in Residence Life, president of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, and president of the Student Senate. Madyson is also part of Psi Chi, Pi Gamma Mu, and Cardinal Key Honor Society and is also a member of the Midland track and field team. She is the daughter of Denise Cada and Tim Ray.

Lisa Saxton – Lisa is currently in Midland’s Teacher Career Ladder program and working for Fremont Public Schools. She lives in Fremont with her husband, Michael, and has four children. Lisa will graduate in May with a BA in Education and certification in K-8 Elementary and K-6 Special Education and will pursue her Masters at Midland. She currently serves as a coach for numerous sports through the Fremont Special Olympics.

Eddie Schweikert – Eddie is a Secondary Education major from Omaha, Nebraska, and has endorsements in Social Sciences and History. He is a member of the speech and debate team and has worked in the Luther Library as a lead student archivist. He also worked with the Warriors in Words student publication, and as a learning lab consultant for history and political science in the Academic Resource Center. Eddie is the son of Michael and Rachel Schweikert.

Scott Tatum – Scott is a Business Administration and Digital Marketing major from Paradise Valley, Montana. At Midland, his involvement includes the baseball team, FCA, PBL, FBLA Collegiate, SAAC, Midland Leaders, and Residence Life. Scott is the son of Jeannie Tatum.

Colby Tichota – Colby is an Accounting major from Yutan, Nebraska. Colby is part of the Howard Hanson Honors Program as well as FCA. He was also a member of the Midland basketball team and was part of the Midland Youth Basketball Camp in 2021. He is the son of Jim and Amy Tichota.
