Study Away 2025 Opportunities

Tanzania | July 27-August 10, 2025

Engage in cross-cultural experiences through the lenses of healthcare and education.

Experiences:

  • Meet local leaders in healthcare and education
  • Hike Mt. Kilimanjaro
  • Go on a safari

Course Name: Contemporary Tanzania: Immersive Cultural Exploration
Instructors: Dr. Cammy Romanuck Murphy and Dr. Courtney Wilder

Contemporary Tanzania is a travel course to Tanzania, based in and around the city of Moshi. Students will engage in meaningful cross-cultural experiences in a variety of settings in Tanzania, including schools, healthcare settings, and community-based support programs for children with disabilities. The course includes an opportunity to hike on Mount Kilimanjaro and a guided safari.


+ Credits: 3 General Elective

+ Cost: $6,000 – All expenses (airfare, lodging, food, and group destinations) are included

+ October 15, 2024: $2,000 payment
+ January 15, 2025: $3,000 payment
+ March 15, 2025: $1,000 payment

Note: LIMITED SPOTS (maximum of 16 students; beyond that students will be wait-listed)

Boston | May 11-18, 2025

Discover Boston, and become a more well-rounded global citizen as you visit one of our country’s most historic cities.

Experiences:

  • Historical tours
  • Boston Red Sox game (depending on schedule)
  • Whale watching
  • Walk the Freedom Trail
  • Learn about the Witch Trials in Salem

Course Name: Unpacking Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion through U.S. History
Instructors: Dr. Cammy Romanuck Murphy and Dr. Brittany Scully

This course is an introduction to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in United States history through immersion into the Boston area. Areas included are the Freedom Trail, Salem Witch Trials, American Indian experiences, and the Revolutionary War injustices. Students will gain increased knowledge of historical injustice of minority populations in the American Northeast and how those historical event have shaped the United States as we see it today.


+ Credits: 3 General Elective

+ Cost: $3,500 – All expenses (airfare, lodging, food, and group destinations) are included

+ October 15, 2024: $1,000 payment
+ January 15, 2025: $1,500 payment
+ March 15, 2025: $1,000 payment
