Midland University extends an invitation to join in welcoming the arrival of the Christmas season during a free performance this Sunday, Dec. 4. The Colors of Christmas concert will begin at 2 p.m. in the Midland Event Center.

The show will feature favorite Christmas carols and music performed by the Midland University Choir and the Clef Dwellers, Fremont’s Pathfinder Chorus, Fremont Middle School’s FAME Show Choir, along with the Palladium Brass and the Midland Band. Special guest and gospel singer Octavius Womack is also scheduled to perform.

The concert will include special moments just for kids, and audience members will be invited to join nearly 200 performers in singing the Hallelujah chorus for the finale. Refreshments will be available after the show.

In addition, the Midland Lueninghoener Planetarium will host a special event during the first two weekends in December. Led by astronomy professor Dr. Greg Clements, the Star of Bethlehem program displays the stars as they appeared over Bethlehem more than 2,000 years ago.

Shows are at 3 p.m. on Dec. 3, 10 and 11, and at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children12 and under. Reservations should be made by calling (402) 941-6353.

Finally, sports fans have the opportunity to give back and support the Midland Warriors during the holiday season.

Fans bringing a non-perishable food item to the Men’s Basketball game on Tuesday, Dec. 6 will receive free admission and popcorn, along with a free gift for children and giveaways held throughout the evening. Food donations will go to support the work of the Low Income Ministry in Fremont. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. against Doane College in the Midland Event Center.
