Midland University Names Taylor Tucker as New Career Studio Director

10/16/23

Midland University proudly announces Taylor Tucker as its new Career Studio Director. Tucker had previously served as Assistant Director of Student Success at Midland.

“The Career Studio is an integral part of a student’s successful journey at Midland,” said Jamie Simpson, Chief Academic Officer. “Taylor brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role, and having worked with students in the past through a variety of roles, she understands what our students need to prepare for the next step toward a career.

“Having our students ready for whatever vocation they choose is very important to us at Midland, and we are confident Taylor will play a vital role in helping those students determine their best path.”

In her seven years at Midland as an Admissions Counselor and Student Success Advisor, Tucker’s role has centered around student communication. She’s excited to continue in a student-facing role and help them shape a career path. “I love working with students, and I’m invested and passionate about leadership, goals, and helping them visualize their next step after graduation,” Tucker said. “It can be hard to navigate those next steps as a 20-year-old, so I want to help them get all the tools they need to build the life they want. While I may not be working with students in the same ways I have in the past, I’m excited to work with them on new goals.”

Tucker views the Career Studio as a space where students can begin a plan for their future and take necessary steps along the way to ensure they are prepared for whatever vocation they choose to pursue. “We want to get them connected prior to graduation, whether that’s through an internship or part-time job,” she said. “That’s something they can start their first year at Midland.”

The Career Studio provides students with resources and services geared toward aiding them as they prepare to enter the workforce. That assistance is evident in Midland’s success rate, where 95 percent of its graduates are either employed or continuing their education within six months of graduation. Tucker recognizes the value the Career Studio has to students and wants to keep pushing students toward utilizing everything the Career Studio has to offer.

“We want to build off their strengths and allow students to utilize this experience,” Tucker said. “The Career Studio foundation is already in place; now we just need to build off that. I’m excited to get going with what we have established and keep moving forward.”

Tucker earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is currently working toward a masters degree through Midland.

She and her husband, Will, have two young sons.
