Career & Degree Exploration

All sophomore-level students will participate in the MID201 Career Development Course, which gives them the opportunity to explore degree and career options, as well as the tools to create and practice foundational career-building components, such as resumes, cover letters, job searching, interviewing, and LinkedIn profile and social media branding. These are all services offered through the Career Studio, as well.
In addition, Midland students have access to the Focus2 degree and career exploration resource. Students can complete this assessment to understand the career planning process, increase self-awareness, explore majors at your college that match your interests and support your career goals, explore career fields and occupations that appeal to you, develop an action plan, and make informed decisions about your major and career.

The O*NET database contains information on hundreds of standardized and occupation-specific descriptors and is continually updated by surveying a broad range of workers from each occupation. Information from this freely available database forms the heart of O*NET OnLine, the interactive application for exploring and searching occupations. The database also provides the basis for our Career Exploration Tools, a set of valuable assessment instruments for workers and students looking to find or change careers.
