Tiffani Peitz | Faces of Midland

10/07/25

It Was Always Midland

She had basically made up her mind that Midland University was going to be her choice for college, but a visit to campus sealed it for Tiffani Peitz.

A senior from Pierce, Nebraska, Peitz always envisioned herself at Midland, and her visit only reaffirmed her decision.

“I had heard good things about Midland, and it was the first college visit I made. One of the first people I met on my visit was Madyson Ray (now Walswick ’24). Her and I were a lot alike in that we were very involved and both were full of life, so we hit it off immediately. After my visit, I got in the car and told my mom I could really see myself being here.

“I tried to convince my parents I didn’t need to make any other visits, and even though I did go on other visits, I was always comparing them to Midland, and it never felt the same. After my visit, I started encountering people who had also gone to Midland, and they told me what a great place it was.”

Leaving home wasn’t easy for Tiffani, but a little reassurance from her dad on move-in day helped put her at ease.

“I’m a big homebody, and I was a little scared to leave home. On the day I was moving in, my dad said he understood what I was talking about when it came to Midland. Having his confirmation was a great feeling for me.”

She came to Midland on a track and field scholarship and was having early success as a high jumper in her freshman campaign. But a medical condition eventually forced Tiffani to step away from a sport she loved. Her health would begin to impact both in and out of the classroom.

“It was hard giving up track and field because athletics was such a huge part of my life, and that was completely wiped away. I spent the next two years looking for answers for my health, and God bless my professors for being so understanding and willing to work with me.”

To help fill the void of missing track and field, Tiffani got involved as a Resident Advisor and also joined FBLA-Collegiate. While she is no longer involved in either of those activities, she has been occupied by helping coach volleyball at Arlington High School, as well as working at Nye Health Services.

“Coaching has helped me stay competitive, and I have really enjoyed my job at Nye and will be completing an internship there next semester.”

She originally was going to major in Accounting at Midland, but early in her first semester, she decided Financial Services would be a better fit. She is also in the process of gaining a major in Psychology.

“I really enjoy working with stocks and bonds, and I like working with people, so I think that’s where the Psychology part will help me.”

Midland has been everything Tiffani expected it to be, and she values the time she has been able to spend here.

“Midland has treated me so well. One of the reasons I wanted to be here was because of the connection you get with professors and coaches, and they have always convinced me they are going to take care of me.”

Tiffani Peitz is a senior Financial Services major from Pierce, Nebraska.
