04/14/23

Midland University will be hosting its Inclusion & Equity Summit Monday, April 17, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Wikert Event Center. There will be a keynote speaker, followed by small group discussions and a meal.

“It’s an opportunity for us to come together as a campus community and engage in dialogue about how to continue Midland’s momentum toward being a place where students can be their whole selves,” Kristina Cammarano, Vice President for Student Affairs & Chief Diversity Officer, said. “This is a time for us to practice and strengthen ourselves in our capacity and work to be more inclusive, welcoming, and resilient.”

Andrea Joy Pearson will serve as keynote speaker. She is a nationally recognized Belonging and Inclusion strategist and creative producer who is committed to helping herself, and others walk in their power and utilize their space to live more full and successful lives. As the CEO of Joy Brings Light, Andrea Joy advocates for the cultivation of spaces where everyone feels they have the opportunity to bring their best and most authentic selves to the table.

Andrea Joy earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Voice Performance from Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Oberlin, Ohio, and her Master of Music in Voice and Opera from the University of Kentucky.
