Maddison Gronenthal | Faces of Midland

Taking On A Challenge

When told she wouldn’t make it as a nurse in the healthcare field, CGPS graduate student Maddison Gronenthal took it as a challenge that (10 years later) is still the driving factor of reaching her goals.

Today, she is a successful ICU float nurse at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha, NE where her job consists of providing exceptional care for some of the sickest children in the region. With the goal of obtaining a management position at Children’s in the back of her mind, Maddison decided it was time for another challenge in her life – earn her MBA.

“I am most proud that I chose to step out of my comfort zone and joined a program that is vastly different from my healthcare background. Some of these classes have been difficult for me as I have had to change the way I problem-solve. However, I have been successful in the program thus far and have maintained a high GPA.”

At Midland, Maddison was exactly where she wanted to be. Being a Warrior has allowed her to have a sense of belonging while still being pushed to reach her goals. She keeps the warrior mentality in the hospital, classroom and personal life.

“To me being a Warrior means being someone who is willing to fight through any obstacle and season in your life to reach your ultimate goals and dreams. Being a Warrior means rising above, against all odds, while remaining true to yourself and your values.”

Since earning her undergraduate degree also from Midland University, Maddison was especially excited to attend the Center for Graduate and Professional Studies for a master’s program. The community feeling was nothing short of what she remembered from her undergraduate years in Fremont.

“I chose Midland for my graduate degree because I went to Midland for my undergraduate. I truly was overjoyed with the experience; I met amazing people and made lifelong memories. And that is exactly what I wanted in a graduate program. I found it all at Midland University.”

When Maddison is not helping save lives or completing her MBA coursework, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Pete, and their dog, Chief. They aspire to build their dream home along the Platte River where they can further their outdoor activities of air boating, fishing and golfing.
