Xavier Green | Faces of Midland

Keep Going

“You have no choice but to keep going” is Xavier Green’s mantra as he navigates through life as a student-athlete at Midland University. Even with the challenges, students must remember to stay on the path as they set themselves up for success beyond the classroom.

A football player with a slight Chipotle addiction, Xavier is a sports marketing and management major with a minor in coaching. With aspirations of becoming a sports agent after college, Xavier recognizes the importance of being a student before an athlete.

“One of my biggest accomplishments was passing all of my classes freshman year.”

Coming from Houston, Texas, Xavier knew that he wanted to use his college experience as a means to establish himself somewhere new. Xavier has found that place in Midland, where he has had many new experiences compared to Houston – chief among them the cold, Nebraska weather. Ultimately, Xavier tells freshmen that the best way to keep a city like Fremont interesting is to find the right people to surround yourself with.

“Going out and meeting new people and forming relationships is what gets you through being in a small area like Fremont.”

For Xavier, being a Warrior is about taking on challenges headfirst. Whether in the classroom, on the field, or socially, it is about staying true to your goals and finding the right path to accomplish them.

“Being a Warrior to me means facing adversity in life and never giving up, but instead choosing to push through and accomplish the goal.”

Xavier has been and will continue to be shaped by the experiences in his life. Right now, those experiences are at Midland. He hopes that at the end of the day, he continues to stay true to himself.

“My life has been filled with lots of different emotions that have made me into the person I am today. I’ve had great times, bad times. and sad times, but through them all, I’ve remained the same fun and loving person I am.”

Xavier Green is a sophomore sports marketing and management major from Houston, Texas. To share your story or nominate a friend, email or post using #FacesofMidland.
