Pursue Your Passion
Following her passion has allowed Missy Perez to work with four professional sports teams. She hopes students at Midland University will exhibit that same passion in their lives.
“You should follow what you’re passionate about, even if it doesn’t always make sense or seem like the easiest path. I know it sounds corny, but it’s true. Life is too short to waste time doing things you really don’t want to do just because you feel like others expect it of you.”
Missy is a first-year adjunct professor, teaching Brand Building and Social Media in Sports to undergraduate students at Midland. After graduating from the University of Florida in 2015, Missy embarked on a career in social media that has taken her to a trio of Major League Baseball teams (Philadelphia Phillies, Tampa Bay Rays, Cleveland Guardians) and her current role overseeing social media strategy and leading a team of social coordinators for the defending Stanley Cup Champion Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League. (Yes, she actually got to have her picture taken with the Stanley Cup)!
While social media is her passion, teaching is something that consistently resonates with her. “I have always wanted to teach. I’ve had so many great teachers in my life, and I’ve always wanted to be that person who could help others through their education. I haven’t been at Midland very long, but I’m loving the experience so far! Midland seems like a tight-knit community, and I really love that.”
Missy is currently working on getting her MBA from Villanova University. When she isn’t working or studying, Missy likes hanging out with friends and family, watching sports, reading, or slipping in the occasional nap.

Snack that you can’t resist: Sour Patch Kids! Or sour candy in general – I am a sucker for it and almost can never turn it down.
When flipping channels, I’ll always stop to watch this: Schitt’s Creek or Criminal Minds. Totally different shows and definitely different vibes, but equally pretty much always something I’d be down to binge.
What artist dominates your playlist? Taylor Swift.
What is your ideal vacation? Something relaxing! Probably Hawaii.
