Midland University Swimming to Host First-Ever Home Swim Meet

Sep 28th , 2018

Midland University men’s and women’s swimming teams will compete in the first-ever home swim meet Saturday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. challenging Barton County Community College and the University of St. Mary at the brand-new Dillion Aquatic Center, part of the nation’s largest YMCA facility.

Head Coach Ryan Bubb is in his second season directing both the men’s & women’s swim teams. He will be joined by Assistant Coach, Eric Shanks, also in his second season.

Last year, Midland University swimmers capped off their inaugural season by setting four school records at the NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships, including records in one individual event and three relays.

“We have a very special group of young swimmers,” said Bubb. “We’ve seen a lot of improvement in stroke work and technique. We’re definitely on track, and I am excited to see how we perform at the season opener in October.”

The world-class facility at the Fremont Family YMCA features a Myrtha pool and diving well that can be configured for either twelve 25-yard lanes or six 50-meter lanes for competitive swimming.

“This is the nicest pool, the No. 1 pool, in the state of Nebraska. It’s one of the nicest in the region,” said Head Coach Bubb, a two-time Olympic trials qualifier.

Doors to the Dillon Aquatic Center will open at 5 p.m. and the meet is free and open to the public.
