Midland University proudly recognized the achievements of the 2013 Midland Athletics Hall of Fame inductees during the university's annual awards banquet dinner, a part of Midland's 2013 Homecoming festivities.

Honorees for 2013 include Nikki Gargano Snow '02, Mary (Beaumont '90) Rinn, Rupert Hilgenkamp '58 and the 2003 Midland Softball Team. "The Hall of Fame inductees are joining an elite class of Midland University greats," said Dave Gillespie, Midland University Director of Athletics. "These athletes are inspiring examples of what can be achieved through a tireless commitment to excellence." Midland Athletics Hall of Fame inductees are chosen by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee. Hall of Fame members have made exceptional contributions in athletics and have been out of their sport at least 10 years.

Hall of Fame honoree Rupert Hilgenkamp, '58, was a standout in football and track and field at Midland. A four-year letterman in Football, he played both offensive and defensive tackle for the Warriors. Rupert earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors in the Nebraska College Conference (NCC). Until the age of 50, Rupert continued to compete in organized athletics, playing competitive fastpitch softball as a catcher and playing competitive basketball.

Honoree Mary Beaumont Rinn, '90, earned NAIA All-America honors in cross country in 1989, NAIA All-America honors in indoor track in 1988, 1989, and 1990, and NAIA All-America honors in outdoor track in 1990. Mary received All-District honors and All-Conference honors a total of 18 times in cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track. In addition, Mary earned NAIA Scholar Athlete honors in cross country (1988, 1989) and in track (1989, 1990). Mary graduated from Midland in 1990 with a bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems.

Midland University alum and 2013 Hall of Fame Women's Basketball Honoree Nikki Gargano Snow, '02, set school records for rebounds in a career (1,217 rebounds) and rebounds in a season (361 rebounds). She is the 4th all-time leading scorer at Midland (1,711 points). Nikki was also a two-time NAIA All-American, earning NAIA 2nd Team All-America honors in 2002 and NAIA Honorable Mention All-America honors in 2001.

The 2003 Midland Women's Softball Team established themselves as being one of the most outstanding softball teams in the Midwest. As a team, Midland recorded an overall record of 39-15-1 with a Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) record of 18-4. They were crowned GPAC Regular Season Champions, GPAC Tournament Champions, and NAIA Region IV Tournament Champions.

The 2003 Midland Women's Softball Team Consisted of Allison Woitzel Acero, Bobbee Walker Ashfaq, Traci Bode Determan, Tamara Geibel, Jamie Thiessen Jorgensen, Janelle Sager Lorsch, Candice Morris, Brooke Graham Penn, Monica Preisendorf, Valerie Reiman, Alexis Scholting Rickert, Stacey Rossmanith, Amanda Smith, Bethany Almquist Steube, Jill Theisen, Erica Nannen Twarling,Ranae Fischer Vorderstrasse, Ashley Yount Washburn, Keith Kramme – Head Coach, Assistant Coaches: Ryan Fittje, Lynsey Moline and Kelli Smith Radermacher.

Midland Athletics has recently seen rapid growth as a result of the university's commitment to expanding opportunities and the launch of the Midland Four-Year Graduation Guarantee. In the last four years, the college's student population has doubled, and the university has expanded program offerings and scholarship opportunities in all 27 varsity athletic teams, the performing arts, and a variety of campus organizations.
