Dr. Nancy Berns to open NUSS conference with speaking event

Dr. Nancy Berns will speak at the Nebraska Undergraduate Sociological Symposium (NUSS) conference on the campus of Midland University on Thursday, Nov. 7.  The keynote event will begin at 7:30 p.m.  

Nancy Berns is the author of Closure: The Rush to End Grief and What It Costs Us, and a professor of sociology at Drake University where she teaches classes on grief, death, emotions, violence, and justice.  Her current research explores how people live with grief and joy after loss. Nancy also writes a blog for Psychology Today and has appeared as a columnist for the Des Moines Register. 

The speaking event will open the annual NUSS conference, an opportunity for undergraduate students to share research studies, internship experiences, and class projects within the sociology field.

Dr. Berns’ presentation will be held in Clemmons Hall and is open to the public.
