Academic Policies & Procedures

The Registrar’s Office helps enforce and implement various academic policies as well as provide assistance to students in navigating those policies and procedures.


Advanced Placement Credits: The College Board’s AP Program is an advanced placement and credit by examination programs recognized at Midland University. Official exam results must be sent from the testing agency to the University Registrar. Evaluation for credit rests with the University Registrar and the department in which the subject is offered. Credit will be awarded based on the American Council of Education’s recommendations. In general, credit will be awarded for scores of at least a 3. Current AP equivalencies are found here.

CLEP Exams: The College Board’s CLEP Program allows students to demonstrate their mastery of introductory college-level material and earn college credit. Students can earn credit for what they already know by getting qualifying scores on any of the 34 examinations. . Official exam results must be sent from the testing agency to the University Registrar. Evaluation for credit rests with the University Registrar and the department in which the subject is offered. International Baccalaureate: The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is a rigorous, challenging, and balanced two-year university preparation program for students aged 16 to 19. It aims to support schools by providing outstanding research-based education, developing both disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge and understanding. Current IB equivalencies are found here.

Department of Defense: Defense Voluntary Education programs: These programs help service members gain the knowledge they need to achieve their education goals, advance in their military careers, and transition into the civilian workforce at the conclusion of their military service. They include CLEP credits described above as well as DSST standardized tests. Students with credit for military service should have their Joint Services Transcripts sent to Midland University.
