The Walker School of Education graduate program’s mission is to prepare culturally responsive educators and leaders who demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to build a culture of learning; implement principles of effective instruction and leadership; apply data-driven decision-making to inform continuous school improvement; demonstrate professionalism and respect; and foster inclusive and equitable learning environments for all stakeholders of the school community.

Doctor of Education in Leadership and Innovation

The Doctor of Education (EdD) in Leadership and Innovation is a rigorous program designed for mid-career professionals from a range of industries who are interested in driving positive systemic change within their organizations. This program is a 100% online cohort-based program designed for working professionals. Students who are accepted into the program bring real-world professional challenges with them. This program challenges students to develop professional inquiry skills and to bridge the gap between theory and practice. Through a comprehensive curriculum and applied research, students develop the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to identify and pose evidence-based solutions to complex organizational and societal problems. The Walker School of Education’s EdD program develops leaders who communicate, collaborate, and innovate to drive positive systemic change.

Master of Education in Leadership, Teaching, and Learning

Under the Walker School of Education, Midland’s Master of Education in Leadership, Teaching, and Learning program is designed for full-time teachers who are ready to grow as educators in their school or district. Throughout the program, students will develop skills that they can take back to their classrooms immediately.

This program and others in education provide authentic projects to engage students in relevant learning and enable them to use their current classroom experience to add to new learning.

Master of Special Education

The Master of Special Education with a Behavior Intervention Specialist Concentration has been designed to extend the expertise of educators who currently hold a teaching certificate with one or more special education endorsement(s) or who wish to earn a supplemental Behavior Intervention Specialist endorsement on a regular teaching certificate.

Behavior Intervention Specialist Endorsement

Candidates in the Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) endorsement program will obtain the knowledge, skills, and dispositions needed to teach, consult, and provide services related to behavioral needs for children with disabilities for birth through age 21.

English as a Second Language Graduate Endorsement

Throughout the 12-month program, Midland students pursuing an ESL endorsement will gain strategies and techniques for working with diverse student populations in a range of settings for immediate application.

This endorsement is completed at the graduate level, provided the student holds a teaching certificate. Individuals with this endorsement may teach English as a Second Language (ESL) in the grade levels that they are prepared. This can be a PK-12, PK-6, or 7-12 endorsement.

High Ability Learner Graduate Endorsement

Students gain the skills and confidence to teach all levels of the classroom and across the spectrum of abilities to promote the success and well-being of every learner. Students earn 18 credit hours at the graduate level through this 12-month fully online program and are quickly prepared for leadership roles in HAL.

Principal Graduate Endorsement

Midland University’s online Principal Endorsement track prepares you to be a principal in a PK-8 or 7-12 setting. The program is fully accredited and leads to the Educational Administration – Principal Endorsement in the state of Nebraska.

National Board Certification Preparation

Grounded in the National Board’s Five Core Propositions that describe what teachers should know and be able to do, the certification process is designed to collect standards-based evidence of accomplished practice*. In all 25 certificate areas, candidates are required to complete four components: Content Knowledge, Differentiation in Instruction, Teaching Practice and Learning Environment, and Effective and Reflective Practitioner.

Classroom and Behavior Management Certificate

Midland University is proud to help teachers grow through graduate education opportunities. Students in our program have the opportunity to complete a 100% online, stand-alone certificate, or complete an MEd degree with an area of emphasis in classroom and behavior management.

This certificate addresses how to effectively use behavior management techniques. The techniques that students learn can be taken immediately back to the classroom as they continue through the program.
