Young Americans World Tour Summer Camps to be Held at Midland University
Fremont, Neb. - The Young Americans World Tour Summer Camps, a performing arts-driven summer camp series, will be hosted by Midland University for the third time this July. The specialized camps, with a 99 percent camper return rate, allow participants to interact and learn music, dance and theatrical performances from 60 Young American professional teachers.
“This camp has been one of the highlights of my summers since joining the Midland team in 2010,” said Erin Bradley, Midland University Director of Performing Arts and former Young American. “It’s a time when the ARTS team gets to join The Young Americans in celebrating the efforts and talents of young people in the arts. From sun up to sun down, the campus is filled with singing, dancing, and smiling. Last year, the students chose a camp motto of ‘Express, don't impress.' I love that!”
The Young Americans is a traveling group that strives to empower, encourage and uplift individual students. Attracting young people from all over the world, Young Americans promotes a supportive and non-competitive environment to encourage long-lasting friendships.
This renowned experience attracts campers from all across the United States and overseas. Last year’s event drew campers from states across the nation, including Arizona, California, Florida, Maine and New Mexico, and nations around the world such as Germany and Japan.
“The Young Americans are masters of inspiring young people from all over the world,” said Bradley. “Their recipe for success lies in their teaching methods. There will be 66 Young American teachers ages 18 - 25, all young instructors who are carefully selected, not only for their amazing arts talent, but also because they care about those around them. They focus on encouraging each individual, and campers leave with a broader view of who they are and what they can accomplish.”
The high-energy camps will be divided into three segments with the first ever installment of the K-8 Day Camp running July 16-19, Camp Hollywood offered July 18-21 and Camp Broadway going July 23-28. All camps will take place on the Midland University campus and feature a camp finale show so campers can show off what they have learned.
The K-8 Day Camp gives campers an affordable opportunity to experience a fun-filled performing arts camp during the day. Showcasing three days of energized instruction on music and dance, the K-8 camp will run from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. with lunch provided. The cost of the K-8 Day Camp is $99.
Camp Hollywood, running July 18-21, offers students grade 6-12 a look at how Hollywood makes the transition from the screen to the stage. This intensive, four-day camp incorporates workshops, lessons and nighttime enrichment activities. The event is capped with a finale celebration featuring campers alongside The Young Americans. Camp Hollywood is $199 for commuters and $369 for overnight visitors.
Camp Broadway will run July 23-28 and serves as the most extensive Young Americans camp. Also featuring workshops, lessons and enrichment activities, Camp Broadway focuses on bringing Broadway’s greatest hits to the stage. The camp’s finale celebration will consist of a production featuring campers alongside The Young Americans. The Broadway Camp is $249 for commuters and $549 for the overnight experience.
Registration is available online at www.youngamericans.org/summercamps.
